The CoTs Paper-to-Product Development Cycle is modeled after the approach used to create the first successful airplane by the Wilbur and Orville Wright in 1903. The Wright brothers took a systems approach to design, along with prototyping everything they could which included building their own wind tunnel to test airfoil designs. Our Paper-to-Product Development Cycle is centered about our state-of-the-art modeling & simulation capability. We have built the most advanced six degree-of-freedom (6DOF) hydrodynamic simulator for undersea systems. You can learn more about our modeling & simulation capability here (link to that section).
Know Answers to “What-If” Questions Before At-Sea Testing
Predict failure modes in worst-case or rigorous flight conditions, including:
- Porpoise & plunge while snorkeling in high sea states
- Motion steadiness exceeding sensor requirements
Quantify “Get-Home Capability” in event of multiple failures occurring simultaneously or sequentially in flight
Simulate failure responses through simulation-based testing to quantify the effects of the failure and identify effective responses, for example:
- Flooding of Ballast Tank
- Depth Sensor Failure
- Fin Actuator Failure
Reduce scheduling & cost ambiguity by leveraging our simulation-based design approach in development & testing phases
Determine impact of design modifications in simulation rather than costly at-sea tests
